Signs in the Heavens - Biblical Prophecy and Astronomy

The Woman Is Virgo

The fact that the woman in Revelation 12:1-2 is clothed with the sun indicates that she is hidden - exactly what happens when the sun is in the constellation Virgo. When the sun is in Virgo you cannot see the stars that make up the constellation. Furthermore, that the sun and moon are together clearly indicates that John is describing a new moon. The only time the sun and the moon can be together is when there is a new moon, just as the only time a lunar eclipse can take place is with a full moon.

A new moon always marks the beginning of a new month on the Jewish calendar. Because the sun is in Virgo, the month must be Tishri/ Marchesvan, which is our September/October. When the full moon is at the head of Virgo, without the sun, it is Nisan and Passover. Therefore, John is being very specific with his descriptions of the signs.

The Lord has given us a sign that indicates that Israel's trouble (pain of labor) is about to begin somewhere around the month of some future September/October when the sun and moon are in the constellation Virgo. The precise location of the solar eclipse is at Virgo's feet in the ecliptic path of the sun and moon in the "Tail of the Dragon."

The sun moves along an ecliptic through the zodiac. An eclipse repeats itself roughly about every 18 years, 10 and 1/3 days, but "never" at exactly the same time and the same place. Are all these astronomical inferences pointing to a very specific series of eclipses? I believe they are.

John and Isaiah both describe a sunrise solar eclipse being associated with the beginning of the "Day of the Lord"... The Bible is the Word of God. John's description of the wonders that appeared in the heavens are too detailed for us to just dismiss as coincidence. Coupling John's description to the collaborative passages of Isaiah 13:10, Joel 2:1-2, Malachi 4:1-2, and Revelation 12 warrants careful deliberation. What do these prophecies mean?...

[Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Joel 2:1-2 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

Mal 4:1-2 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.]

When the sun is in Virgo with the new moon it is always late September or October. This fact is absolutely reliable. When we look up at the stars at night and if we were able to see the constellation Virgo in the early morning hours (in Israel) we would note how the constellation Hydra (dragon or serpent) stands before it in the heavens in late September and October. Hydra and Virgo always appear together with the sun in the months of late September through October. During these months they always appear in the "morning hours" with Virgo standing straight up and Hydra standing before her.
