Isaiah 2:1
JPS 2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
TJBU 2:1 THE WORD OF PROPHECY, WHICH ISAIAH THE SON OF AMOZ PROPHESIED CONCERNING THE MEN OF JUDAH AND THE INHABITANTS OF JERUSALEM.
 
Isaiah 2:2
JPS 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the end of days, That the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established as the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow unto it.
TJBU 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the end of days, that the mountain of the house of the sanctuary of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and all the kingdoms shall be turned to worship upon it.
 
Isaiah 2:3
JPS 2:3 And many peoples shall go and say: 'Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; And He will teach us of His ways, And we will walk in His paths.' For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
TJBU 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the house of the sanctuary of the Lord, to the house of the Shekinah of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, which are right before Him, and we will walk in the instruction of His law; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the instruction of the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
 
Isaiah 2:4
JPS 2:4 And He shall judge between the nations, And shall decide for many peoples; And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruninghooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war any more.
TJBU 2:4 And He shall judge among the kingdoms, and rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into sickles: nation against nation shall not lift up any weapon, neither shall they learn war any more.
 
Isaiah 2:5
JPS 2:5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk In the light of the LORD.
TJBU 2:5 Those of the house of Jacob shall say, Come ye, and let us walk in the instruction of the law of the Lord.
 
Isaiah 2:6
JPS 2:6 For Thou hast forsaken Thy people the house of Jacob; For they are replenished from the east, And with soothsayers like the Philistines, And they please themselves in the brood of aliens.
TJBU 2:6 Because ye have forsaken the terrible, the mighty One, who has redeemed you of the house of Jacob, therefore your land is full of idols, as from the beginning; and they have become prognos ticators by the clouds, like the Philistines; and they are walking in the laws of the nations.

JPS 2:7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, Neither is there any end of their treasures; Their land also is full of horses, Neither is there any end of their chariots.

Isaiah 2:8
JPS 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; Every one worshippeth the work of his own hands, That which his own fingers have made.
TJBU 2:8 Their land is also full of idols; they prostrate themselves to the work of their own hands, to that which is shaped by their own fingers.
 
Isaiah 2:9
JPS 2:9 And man boweth down, And man lowereth himself; And Thou canst not bear with them.
TJBU 2:9 The common man shall be humbled, and the strength of the great men shall become weak; and Thou shalt not pardon them.
 
Isaiah 2:10
JPS 2:10 Enter into the rock, And hide thee in the dust, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of His majesty.
TJBU 2:10 They shall enter into the rock in order to flee with a flight, and to be hidden in the dust, for fear of the Lord, and for the brightness of His glory.
 
Isaiah 2:11
JPS 2:11 The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, And the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
TJBU 2:11 The lofty looks of the common man shall be humbled, and the strength of the great men shall become weak, and the Lord alone shall be mighty in that time.

JPS 2:12 For the LORD of hosts hath a day Upon all that is proud and lofty, And upon all that is lifted up, and it shall be brought low;
TJBU 2:12 For the day shall come from the Lord of hosts upon all the proud, and upon those who are highminded and upon all the mighty, yea, they shall be humbled.

JPS 2:13 And upon all the cedars of Lebanon That are high and lifted up, And upon all the oaks of Bashan;

JPS 2:19 And men shall go into the caves of the rocks, And into the holes of the earth, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of His majesty, When He ariseth to shake mightily the earth.
TJBU 2:19 And they shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, for the fear of the Lord, and for the brightness of His glory, when He shall be revealed to destroy the wicked of the earth.
 
Isaiah 2:20
JPS 2:20 In that day a man shall cast away His idols of silver, and his idols of gold, Which they made for themselves to worship, To the moles and to the bats;
TJBU 2:20 At that time the sons of men shall abominate the idols of their silver, and the idols of their gold, which they have made for themselves to prostrate themselves to idols and to images.

JPS 2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, And into the crevices of the crags, From before the terror of the LORD, And from the glory of His majesty, When he ariseth to shake mightily the earth.

Isaiah 2:22
JPS 2:22 Cease ye from man, in whose nostrils is a breath; For how little is he to be accounted!
TJBU 2:22 Cease ye to make yourselves servile to man, because he is working terror; the breath of the spirit of life is in his nostrils, for to-day he is alive, but to-morrow he is not, and he is counted as nothing.
