Isaiah 35:1
JPS 35:1 The wilderness and the parched land shall be glad; And the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
TJBU 35:1 They that dwell in the wilderness, in a thirsty land, shall rejoice; and those that inhabit the desert shall rejoice, and shall shine as the lilies.
 
Isaiah 35:2
JPS 35:2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice, Even with joy and singing; The glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, The excellency of Carmel and Sharon; they shall see the glory of the LORD, The excellency of our God.
TJBU 35:2 They shall greatly rejoice and be glad, yea, with joy and gladness. The glory of Lebanon shall be given unto them; the splendour of Carmel and of Sharon. The house of Israel to whom these things are promised, they, they shall see the glory of the Lord, the beauty of our God.
 
Isaiah 35:3
JPS 35:3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, And make firm the tottering knees.
TJBU 35:3 The prophet said: Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm ye the feeble knees.
 
Isaiah 35:4
JPS 35:4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart: 'Be strong, fear not'; Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God He will come and save you.
TJBU 35:4 Say ye to the fearful of heart that they may keep the law, Be ye strong, and fear ye not: behold, your God shall be revealed to take vengeance of judgment: the Lord of retributions, the Lord shall be revealed, and He shall save you.
 
Isaiah 35:5
JPS 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
TJBU 35:5 Then the eyes of Israel shall be opened, which were blind to the law, and their ears, which were as of the deaf, shall hear and receive the words of the prophets.
 
Isaiah 35:6
JPS 35:6 Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, And the tongue of the dumb shall sing; For in the wilderness shall waters break out, And streams in the desert.
TJBU 35:6 Then when they shall see the captives of Israel gathered to go up to their own land as the swift harts, and not tarry, they shall sing with their tongue, which has been tied, because then the waters shall gush forth in the wilderness, and rivers in the plain.
 
Isaiah 35:7
JPS 35:7 And the parched land shall become a pool, And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the habitation of jackals herds shall lie down, It shall be an enclosure for reeds and rushes.
TJBU 35:7 Then the mirage shall become pools of water, and the thirsty place springs of water, in the place where the dragons dwell, reeds and rushes shall come up.
 
Isaiah 35:8
JPS 35:8 And a highway shall be there, and a way, And it shall be called The way of holiness; The unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those; The wayfaring men, yea fools, shall not err therein.
TJBU 35:8 And a trodden way shall be there, and a straight one; and it shall be called the way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it, and the wayfaring men shall not cease; the ignorant shall not err.
 
Isaiah 35:9
JPS 35:9 No lion shall be there, Nor shall any ravenous beast go up thereon, They shall not be found there; But the redeemed shall walk there;
TJBU 35:9 There shall not be there a king doing evil, and an oppressive governor shall not pass over it, yea, they shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there.
 
Isaiah 35:10
JPS 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come with singing unto Zion, And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; They shall obtain gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
TJBU 35:10 And the redeemed of the Lord shall return, because they shall be gathered from the midst of their captivity; and they shall come to Zion with a song, and they shall have everlasting joy, which shall not cease, and a cloud of glory shall over- shadow their heads; joy and gladness shall be found, and sorrow and sighing shall cease from them, namely, from the house of Israel.
