ONK 35:25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer from the avenger of blood, and return him to the city of his refuge to which he had fled, and he shall dwell in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

Numbers 35:26
JPS 35:26 But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge, whither he fleeth;
ONK 35:26 But if the slayer shall come out of the boundary of the city of his retreat to which he hath fled, and the avenger of blood find him outside of the bounds of the city of his retreat,
PAL 35:26 But if, while the high priest is yet alive, the manslayer goeth out indeed from the bounds of his city of refuge whither he had fled,

Numbers 35:27
JPS 35:27 and the avenger of blood find him without the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood slay the manslayer; there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him;

JPS 35:31 Moreover ye shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer, that is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.

ONK 35:33 But you shall not make guilty the land in which you are; for blood maketh the land guilty; and the land is not expiated for innocent blood that is shed therein but by the blood of him who shed it.
PAL 35:33 Nor contaminate ye the land in which you are, because innocent blood which hath not been avenged will overflow the land, and there is no atonement made for the land upon which innocent blood hath been shed, but by the shedding of the blood of him who shed it.

ONK	35:21	or in enmity smote him with his hand and killed him, the smiter is a murderer, he shall be surely put to death: the avenger of blood shall slay the slayer when he is condemned.
PAL	35:21	or cherishing enmity had struck him with his hand and killed him; he is a murderer; dying he shall die. The avenger of blood may slay the homicide when he hath been condemned.


Numbers 35:22
JPS	35:22	But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or hurled upon him any thing without lying in wait,
ONK	35:22	But if he have struck him suddenly without enmity, or have thrown anything upon him without lying in wait for him,
PAL	35:22	But if in ignorance, without keeping of malice, he let any thing fall upon him, having no intention to kill;


Numbers 35:23
JPS	35:23	or with any stone, whereby a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, so that he died, and he was not his enemy, neither sought his harm;

JPS	35:24	then the congregation shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances;

Numbers 35:25
JPS	35:25	and the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, whither he was fled; and he shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
ONK	35:25	And the congregation shall deliver the slayer from the avenger of blood, and return him to the city of his refuge to which he had fled, and he shall dwell in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.
PAL	35:25	and the congregation shall release the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and make him return to his city of refuge whither he had fled; and he shall dwell there until the time that the high priest die, whom the multitude (sagia) had anointed with the oil of anointing;—because he did not pray on the Day of Atonement in the Holy of Holies concerning the three great transgressions, that the people of the house of Israel might not be smitten for strange worship, or impure connexions, or the shedding of innocent blood, when it was in his power to obviate them by his prayer, and he prayed not, therefore hath he been condemned to die in that year.


Numbers 35:26
JPS	35:26	But if the manslayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge, whither he fleeth;
ONK	35:26	But if the slayer shall come out of the boundary of the city of his retreat to which he hath fled, and the avenger of blood find him outside of the bounds of the city of his retreat,
PAL	35:26	But if, while the high priest is yet alive, the manslayer goeth out indeed from the bounds of his city of refuge whither he had fled,


Numbers 35:27
JPS	35:27	and the avenger of blood find him without the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood slay the manslayer; there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him;
ONK	35:27	and the avenger of blood slay the slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood.
PAL	35:27	and the avenger of blood find him without the bounds of his city of refuge, he may kill the manslayer, without being guilty of death,


Numbers 35:28
JPS	35:28	because he must remain in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest; but after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return into the land of his possession.
ONK	35:28	Because he should have abode within the city of his retreat until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer may return to the land of his inheritance.

JPS	35:29	And these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Numbers 35:30
JPS	35:30	Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be slain at the mouth of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify against any person that he die.
ONK	35:30	Whosoever killeth a person shall die, by the mouth of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify against a man to put (him) to death.
PAL	35:30	Whosoever killeth a man, according to the word of witnesses fit to give testimony against him, the avenger of blood, or the house of judgment, shall put him to death.


Numbers 35:31
JPS	35:31	Moreover ye shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer, that is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.
ONK	35:31	Neither may you take money on account of a manslayer who is guilty of death, for dying he shall die.
PAL	35:31	But one witness only shall not testify against a man to put him to death. You may not take a ransom for the release of a murderer who is guilty of death, for dying he shall die.


Numbers 35:32
JPS	35:32	And ye shall take no ransom for him that is fled to his city of refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
ONK	35:32	Nor may you take money for him who hath fled to his city of refuge, so that he may return to dwell in the land till the high priest shall die.
PAL	35:32	Neither may you take ransom for him who hath fled to his city of refuge, so as that he may return to dwell in the land before the time of the high priest's decease.


Numbers 35:33
JPS	35:33	So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are; for blood, it polluteth the land; and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
ONK	35:33	But you shall not make guilty the land in which you are; for blood maketh the land guilty; and the land is not expiated for innocent blood that is shed therein but by the blood of him who shed it.
PAL	35:33	Nor contaminate ye the land in which you are, because innocent blood which hath not been avenged will overflow the land, and there is no atonement made for the land upon which innocent blood hath been shed, but by the shedding of the blood of him who shed it.


Numbers 35:34
JPS	35:34	And thou shalt not defile the land which ye inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.'
ONK	35:34	Defile not then the land in which you dwell, for My Shekinah dwelleth in the midst of it; for I, the Lord, by My Shekinah dwell among the children of Israel.
PAL	35:34	Therefore defile not the land in which you are; for My Shekinah dwelleth in the midst of it; for I am the Lord whose Shekinah dwelleth among the children of Israel.
